*3rd Person POV*
Peter grinned as he relaxed back onto his chair. After a successful mission, himself and his friends/colleagues were just chilling at the Avenger’s tower, having a few laughs and some drinks. The conversation had been light so far, everyone just congratulating each other and jibing each other. He’d never felt as part of the family as he did now.
“So, Peter, tell me. You have a special someone yet?” Tony suddenly turned to the young man with a teasing twinkle in his eyes. Peter blushed and looked down, becoming shy at the question. He hadn’t yet told them about his long-term girlfriend, hadn’t planned to tell them, but he was a hopeless liar, He knew that just by his reaction to the question everyone would know the answer.
“Well, Peter? Have you?” Loki leaned forward, Bucky following suit. Even Steve gave him a questioning look, and the Cap usually tried to save him from these situations.
“Er, yeah, I-I guess I do.” He finally replied, playing with one of the cushions beside him.
“You’ve kept that quiet.” Natasha smiled, taking a sip of her drink. “What’s her name?”
“I can’t say. You’d put her off me.” Peter joked, trying to change the conversation back to the teasing.
“Would you tell us if we promised not to show you up in front of her?” Clint offered but Peter shook his head.
“No, I’m not taking any chances.” Wanda frowned at this and stared at Peter, causing him to look down at the ground. He hoped to all the gods that she wasn’t doing what he thought she was.
“Who is ____ ____?” She asked, smirking. Peter stiffened, as did everyone else save from Pietro.
“____ ____? She died, did she not?” Thor asked, looking around at everyone. Peter began to feel more stressed, knowing if they started asking him questions he’d break. He’d kept her secret so long, she’d trusted him with it, and now it was all for nothing. He’d let her down. She’d trusted him, and he couldn’t even keep her secret.
Just as he was about to have a complete breakdown, he began to feel a tingling sensation all over his body. The familiar sensation caused the world the spin before he was standing up, facing his girlfriend in her home.

I stood up to greet Peter, wrapping my arms around his neck. He buried his face into my shoulder, nuzzling me.
“I’m so sorry,” He whispered, “They know.”
“What?” I pulled back, feeling the guilt rolling off Peter in waves. He couldn’t meet my eyes, trying to look anywhere but at me. “Who know?”
“Tony, Steve, Natasha, Bruce, Clint, Thor, Wanda, Pietro, Bucky and Loki. Tony asked me if I had a girlfriend and I’m a really bad liar and they started asking questions and Wanda looked in my head and saw you and I started to panic and I’m so sorry I’m such a terrible boy-“
“Woah, woah, woah, slow down. We’re gonna handle this, okay?” I asked but he still looked panicked.
“Please don’t hate me, I know you have every right to but I don’t know what I’d do if you left.” He was completely distressed. Despite my inner panic I knew I had to assure Peter and to do that I had to be as confident as possible. I pulled him close again, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“Shhh, calm down Peter, I’m going nowhere. I promise. We are going to work through this together, that means I’m staying right where I am. This was bound to happen eventually, I was foolish in thinking things could stay as they are.” I tried my best to reassure him, running my hands through his hair and trying to fill his head with thoughts of love and adoration. It seemed to work as he began to calm down, getting his breathing under control and wiping his eyes.
“I just panicked…” He whispered, finally allowing his gaze to meet mine. I smiled up at him.
“I know. You always do.” He smiled weakly at this. I pressed my forehead to his, closing my eyes and getting lost in the feeling of Peter holding me. “I love you.”
“I love you to.” He replied automatically, giving me a squeeze. I pulled one of my hands off Peter before clicking my fingers, teleporting us to bed with Peter’s favourite film on the TV and snacks surrounding us. He gave me a large grin, leaning over and pressing a kiss to my lips. I kissed him back, reaching up to tangle my hands in his hair.
“Feeling better?” I asked and Peter nodded.
“Definitely. Thank you for understanding- I feel awful. I mean, I know I’m bad at keeping secrets but I thought for sure I could keep yours.”
“Hey, this is no one’s fault. Wanda didn’t mean any harm and you didn’t let my secret out. I always knew that I’d have to explain myself one day, that this was just a holiday. You shouldn’t feel bad for anything.” I replied, leaning my head on his shoulder. He turned and placed a shy kiss to my forehead before leaning his head on mine.
“Thank you for being so forgiving. I thought for sure you wouldn’t want anything to do with me. I was so scared. Terrified.”
“You’re terrible at keeping secrets Peter, but you’re so sweet and adorable at the same time. I couldn’t hate you even if I wanted to, I don’t think.” Peter chuckled at this, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.
“I can’t help that I’m so lovable.” He murmured, kissing my cheek before turning his attention to the TV. “Where do we go from here?”
“They don’t know where we are, right?”
“Then we have tonight to ourselves. Them we’ll go to them together tomorrow and explain everything. It’s better if I go to them than them come to us.”
“You sure you want to do this?” I looked up at him, nodding.
“Yes. Now they know some of the truth, they deserve to know all of it.” I said, closing my eyes and snuggling up to him. “But tonight, it’s just us.”
Peter smiled. “Just us.”
The next morning, I was the first to wake. I quietly climbed out of Peter’s arms and began to get ready, feeling my nerves begin to build. I couldn’t believe I was going back to see my old friends, people I had classed as family- people I still classed as family. I looked in the bathroom mirror.
I hadn’t changed much since I had left. They would recognise me as soon as I stepped into the room.
The only reason I had managed to hide myself all this time was that I could change my appearance into anything I wanted in public. I sighed as I closed my eyes. I was terrified they’d hate me for what I’d done. I was hoping they would at least understand why I did what I did, but I could only hope.
“____?” I opened my eyes to see a sleepy Peter rubbing his eyes in the mirror and I spun around to face him, not wanting him to see I was upset and nervous. He easily picked up on my emotions though and wrapped me in a tight hug, placing lots of little kisses on my face which caused me to giggle.
He smiled down at me, holding me close. “Y’know, when Wanda said your name yesterday, everyone seemed shocked, but they also seemed hopeful. Yeah, they’ll be mad and confused, but they’ll hear you out and more importantly they will understand.”
“You’re right. I should stop worrying.” I murmured, leaning my head on his shoulder. “Are you ready to go?”
“Give me a few minutes, okay?” He asked and I nodded, giving him a quick hug before walking into the living room and pacing around.
Everything will be fine. Everything will be fine.
*3rd Person POV*
Steve watched as Peter disappeared in front of his eyes, shock causing his brain to stop working. He turned to Wanda who looked very confused at everyone’s reaction to ____’s name.
Wanda, what did you see?” He asked, pulling the woman’s attention to his. She opened and closed her mouth a few times before she managed to get her voice working.
“There was a girl- well, a few girls with Peter, but they were all called ____. Were they the same person? Is she like us?” Wanda replied, looking around at everyone. Nobody looked together enough to answer. She frowned and looked back at Steve, using her abilities to search his mind.
The first thing she saw was a woman with ___ hair and ___ eyes looking up in wonder at Steve. It looked like she had just been welcomed into the Avenger’s family. Time seemed to go on, with the woman gaining control over her abilities which ranged from conjuring and creating to teleporting controlling the elements. She seemed so powerful yet so humble.
She saw the woman playing pranks on everyone with Loki, helping Tony, relaxing with Steve and Bucky, training with Natasha and Clint, helping Vision to fit in with everyone, trying to life Thor’s hammer and finally listening intently to Bruce as he educated her in his lab. She seemed to keep everyone together and love everyone equally, almost being a mom to the group.
However, things took a turn. Just as everything had settled down in the Avenger’s lives ___ went on a solo mission, not coming back. Wanda saw Steve telling the others the bad news, felt everyone’s heartbreak and devastation at the loss of ____. Her body was brought back and burnt, ashes spread in the breeze.
When Wanda finally came out of Steve’s head she tried to make sense of everything she had seen, before quietly telling Pietro about what she had seen who was also confused. Loki was the first to move, getting up and silently walking out the room, head down. They soon heard something breaking and a frustrated yell.
“I shall go and make sure he does not break anything expensive.” Thor said quietly, getting up to follow his brother.
“It can’t be ____. She’s dead. She died. She can’t be alive.” Tony whispered to himself, head in his hands. “She’s dead, she’d dead, she’s dead.”
“Wanda, are you sure it was a woman called ____ in Peter’s head?” Steve asked and Wanda nodded.
“Yes, I saw her in your head to, hanging out with you all.” Wanda confirmed, gently placing a hand on Steve’s back. “She was special to you all.”
“More than special.” Bruce replied, giving Wanda a small smile. “She understood all of us and accepted us. She was one-of-a-kind.”
“She was really strong to- saved all our asses at some point.” Natasha chipped in, smiling. “I didn’t meet one person who didn’t like her. Save for anyone she beat up, of course.”
“Wait, so if she’s the girl with Peter- that means she’s alive. So who’s body did we burn?” Clint asked.
“She could create things in an instant. Pretty sure she could invent a replica of herself.” Tony replied, finally lifting his head up. “I’m also pretty sure she’s the one who teleported Peter away from here.”
“Which means he’s with her now, so she knows we know.” Steve finished and Tony nodded.
“My thoughts exactly.”
“Should we go question her? Ask what this is all about? Peter isn’t that hard to track down usually.” Natasha asked but Vision shook his head.
“No, she will be upset and alarmed if we all go to her. Let her come to us, she will not keep us waiting for long.” He suggested, standing up. “Right now, we all need to calm down. She is likely to be scared to come back, to have to explain everything, so we to need to be in the right mindset to take her information in tomorrow and be as understanding as possible. There is no doubt in my mind she had good reason to do this.”
“Vision is right.” Wanda said, looking at the ground. “I have never met her but from what I have seen she made you all happy and she is currently making Peter very happy. She wouldn’t hurt any of you without good enough reason.”
Steve looked down at the floor, suddenly feeling the need to be on his own. He stood and strode out the room, hearing Loki swearing and screaming in another part of the tower. He sighed, feeling tears enter his eyes but not wanting anyone else to see them. He managed to hold them off until he was back in his room, where he locked the door and began to sob.
After Steve left, everyone else went their own way. Natasha and Clint stayed together, talking through all the reasons they thought ____ would do something like this. Bruce went back into his room, silently processing everything and hoping that she’d come back soon. Vision went on a walk with Wanda and Pietro, Tony grabbing some alcohol and chugging it down. Bucky stayed where he was, fiddling with his clothes.
“If you don’t come back tomorrow ____, I will look for you myself.” He whispered. “Things haven’t been the same since you’ve been gone.”
*1st Person POV*
I gently nuzzled into Peter’s neck before looking up into his eyes. He nodded to me and I closed my eyes, teleporting the both of us to my old home. We arrived in the living room and to our surprise no one was there for once. Peter gently pressed a kiss to my forehead, moving away from me.
“You wait here, I’ll go get everyone.” He murmured, giving me a reassuring smile. “And remember, whatever happens, I love you.”
“I love you to.” I replied, though I couldn’t conjure up a smile. When he left, I started walking around, smiling when I saw nothing had changed. Gosh, had I missed this place.
“____?” I turned to look over to the door where Loki was standing, tears in his ice blue eyes.
“Loki.” I whispered, taking a step towards him before pausing. Would I be welcome for a hug? Or would he hate me? “I-I’ve missed you.”
“I’ve mourned you.” Loki replied quietly but he strode over to me, wrapping me in a tight hug. He pressed me tightly against him, pressing a kiss to my cheek.
“I’m so sorry, so so sorry.” I whispered, holding him tightly back. “I had to, I had to… I would never have done it if I wasn’t desperate.”
“Desperate for what?” He asked, pulling away slightly. His eyes looked me up and down, anxiousness slipping onto his features. “Did someone hurt you here? I will kill them for you if it will make you come back.”
“No Loki, it’s nothing li-“
“_____!” I gasped as I was lifted up and spun around by Thor, all the air knocked out of me by the large man. Before I could comprehend what was happening all the Avengers were in the room and surrounding me, bombarding me with questions and hugs. I started feeling very overwhelmed and looked for Peter who pushed his way through and wrapped his arms around me. I automatically felt better having him by my side.
“Guys, please give her some space. She’ll explain everything, I promise.” Peter said, voice not shaking once.
“Alright, everyone grab a chair.” Steve ordered and for once nobody argued with him. I took a seat beside Peter, keeping our hands locked together. As everyone else also sat down Peter gently pressed a kiss to my lips.
“Take it easy. Don’t panic.” He murmured, smiling. “Okay?”
“Okay.” I replied, giving his hands a squeeze. “Thanks for being here. I couldn’t do it otherwise.”
“No need to thank me. You know I’d do anything to make you feel better.” Peter said before Tony coughed and looked at us expectantly. “Sorry Mr. Stark.”
“It’s fine. Now, are you gonna tell us why the hell you faked your own death?” Tony asked, raising an eyebrow at me. I looked down at the floor, not able to look at any of them.
“I was feeling trapped. I had to get away and not just for a holiday. I was sick of seeing innocent people dying, sick of not having a normal life. I didn’t feel human anymore, I felt like a machine. So, I created my own little mission, and when on it I made a decoy me so you guys would think I’d died.” I explained, looking at Peter. He gave me a bright smile, shuffling slightly closer to me.
“When I escaped, I built myself a nice little place and started exploring the city as an ordinary person and that’s when I met Peter.”
“But why fake your death? Why not just tell us you’d had enough?” Loki asked, confusion lacing his features.
“Because I knew that you’d all keep asking me or hinting at me to come back, and I wouldn’t be able to deal with the guilt.” I replied, looking back down at the floor. “Don’t even try to deny it, because you know it’s true.”
They all stayed quiet for a little while, trying to take in everything I said. Peter pressed his head to mine, his warmth a constant reminder that I had his full support.
“Honestly, if I had had another option I would have chosen that. I didn’t want to hurt you guys but I had no choice. Sometimes in life you have to do what’s best for you.” I knew that I sounded selfish but I meant every word.
“You’re right.” Every looked as Vision stood and walked over to me. He knelt in front of me, a kind smile on his face. “I fear we may have gotten carried away and taken advantage of you. I know you are not young now, but you were still only a young lady when we took you on. We gave you too much responsibility and didn’t take into account the effect that was having on you. I hope you can forgive us.”
I smiled and wrapped my arms around Vision’s neck, giving him a light hug. “I think it is me who should be asking for your forgiveness. I’m sorry I caused you such pain.”
“I believe I can forgive you as well, so long as you forgive me.” Loki jumped in, puling me up to stand and hug me. “I have missed you. I haven’t been able to do any pranks with you not around.”
“I’ve missed out pranks to.” I murmured, kissing his cheek. “I hope we can start them up again soon.”
“Oh definitely.” He smirked at me before backing away to make way for Steve.
At the end of the day, despite some awkward moments I had seamlessly fit back into the family. As I settled down in my bed that night I thought about how the day had gone; how everyone had caught up and happily taken me back. They had promised not to ask me back but told me that my spot would always be available should I change my mind. Peter had also got teased to death about me by Tony and Loki especially, however he had been a good sport about it.
“What are you thinking about?” I jumped at Peter’s voice right next to my ear and I smiled, turning to face him.
“I’m thinking how amazing it is I’ve got my family back.” I replied, allowing him to pull me close to his body. “And about how amazing you are for supporting me in all this.”
“Why wouldn’t I support you? You’re the best girlfriend I’ve ever had.”
“There’s not much competition-“
“Don’t start, I’ve had it all day already.” Peter said, causing me to laugh. He leant down and gently pressed his lips to mine, pulling away after a few seconds. “I love you. I think it was really brave what you did today.”
“I love you to. I was kind of glad I did it- I missed them more than I thought.” I murmured, resting my head on his chest. “I couldn’t live with them though. They’re all mad.”
“I have to work with them, how’d you think I feel?” Peter said, running a hand through my hair.
“Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?”
“Everyday since you met me.” I chuckled, leaning up and kissing him again. “But lucky for you I never get tired of hearing it.”
I closed my eyes and nuzzled into the crook of Peter’s neck, letting his heart beat lull me to sleep. Just as I was about to nod off I felt him press a kiss to my forehead and pull me that little bit closer.
“No one’s taking you away from me, ever. I’d fight all the Avengers at once if it meant I could keep you.” He whispered. “I’m never letting you go.”
