I anxiously waited for Benny to come home; he said he was bringing couple of friends around, but I had no idea who they were. Apparently they were hunters which kind of worried me. I mean, Benny was a vampire. He had told me about Sam and Dean Winchester, but I knew that disaster followed them wherever they went and that they could not be trusted around monsters.

Just as I was about to lose it I saw headlights flash on the drive signalling Benny’s return. I made my way into the kitchen, trying to look like I had been busy and not worrying. I knew it was hopeless though; Benny always seemed to read my mind and emotions like a book. The front door opened and I heard Benny calling my name. I walked out to meet him, smile on my face.

“I was starting to worry, you’d been gone so long.” I said, giving him a hug. A chuckle vibrated in Benny’s chest as he placed a kiss on my cheek and gave me a squeeze.

“You know I always come back Darlin’, you don’t need to worry about me.” He responded, pulling away and gesturing to the two men walking in the door. “____, meet Dean and Sam. Dean helped me out of Purgatory.”

I turned to look at the men and held my hand out for each of them to take. “A pleasure to meet you. I have to say, Benny goes on about you quite a lot.”

“All good?” Dean asked and I shrugged.

“Not really.” Benny rolled his eyes and gave me a nudge towards the living room.

“Why don’t you three go and get settled down? Maybe put something on the TV; I’ll go get the drinks.” He suggested and I nodded, leading the boys into our living room.

“You guys take a seat anywhere you like; what kind of music do you like?” I asked. Dean opened his mouth to answer but Sam beat him to it.

“Dean likes Taylor Swift.” I raised an eyebrow at Dean who glared at Sam.

“Liked. I was a teenager.”

“She’s one of his guilty pleasures.” I felt my worries fade as the brother’s began to bicker. They seemed just like ordinary brothers. Benny walked in and smiled at me, handing me a drink.

“See Darlin’? They’re harmless to us.” He murmured, taking my hand and leading me over to the sofa. We sat down just as Sam and Dean finished arguing.

“You can read me like a book, you know that?” I asked and he grinned, giving my hand a squeeze.

“It’s what I pride myself on.”

“So ____, Benny says you know what he is. How did that come about?” Sam asked. I frowned at the question, wondering if he was always this frank when getting to know someone.

“Well, I used to be a hunter, so it comes with me being paranoid about getting close to anyone. I was gonna drop him when I knew what he was, but he was so sweet and managed to win me over.” I replied, smiling at the memory. “Never met a monster with charm before.”

“Good job you weren’t a hunter when I met you. Wouldn’t be alive if you were. She was a damn fine hunter.” Benny complimented, causing me to blush. “She’s hunted all over the globe, every monster you can think of. Got a good library up in that brain of hers.”

“Seriously?” Dean asked and I nodded.

“I think I’m an average hunter, but Benny seems to think I’m some sort of Goddess. Don’t listen to him.”

“How come you left the hunting profession? I mean it must have been amazing to travel and save people’s lives at the same time.” I shrugged at Sam’s question, leaning on Benny’s side.

“There are safer ways to travel the world; hunting too its toll on me mentally and physically. So, I decided to come back here and go to college, get a job that can support me and that I can carry on till I die naturally.” I explained. “I think I’ve done my bit of heroism.”

“Sounds like it. I’d like to travel but Dean’s scared of flying.”

“Why’d you have to tell everyone?” The older brother muttered and before another argument broke out Benny quickly asked about where the boys were based now. They told us about their bunker and what they were up to (which I was glad to hear didn’t involve causing the 20th apocalypse).

For the rest of the night we drank some more, shared funny stories and my worries eventually faded.
I could tell they weren’t here to harm Benny or myself and even though I was on high alert nothing happened. When they made an exit and drove off, Benny spun me in his arms and pulled me into a tight hug, placing lots of kisses on my cheek.

“See ____, nothing to worry about.” He said, giving me a smirk. He loved to prove me wrong.

“Alright, you win this time.” I responded, wrapping an arm around his neck. My other ran through his short locks, forehead pressed to Benny’s. “That will be the last time though.”

“We’ll see about that.” He replied, picking me up and taking me to our bedroom. There he laid me on the bed before lying beside me, arms holding me close to him. I looked up into his bright eyes, my heart skipping a few beats. Despite having been together for a few years now I still felt as though I had only just fallen in love.

“I can hear your brain at work; what are you thinking so hard about?” Benny asked, lips brushing mine.

“You.” I murmured, leaning up and pressing my lips firmly to his. He responded instantly, bringing up a hand to cup my cheek. We feel into rhythm easily, our bodies fitting together perfectly as if they were meant to be together. The kiss went on for quite a while; neither of us wanting to pull away but at the same time not wanting to turn this sweet moment into something more.

“I love you.” I mumbled between kisses before pulling back to breathe. “I know I tell you this a lot, but I’m so glad I met you.”

“I love you to.” Benny replied, giving me a grin. “And don’t worry, I never get tired of hearing it. After all this time of being alone, it’s perfect to have a companion such as yourself.” I gently nuzzled my head into the crook of his neck, closing my eyes and losing himself in his warmth.

“____?”

“Yes, Benny?”

“Do you ever feel in danger from me?” He asked and I frowned, pulling back.

“Of course not! What kind of question is that?”

“I just wandered because I’m a vampire; we ain’t the friendliest of creatures.”

“There’s always exceptions, and you’re one of them.” I said. “I’ve never felt in danger of you in my life, even when we have disagreements. I trust you completely. I wouldn’t be with you otherwise.”

Benny still seemed unsure by my answer and my heart broke for him; most the time he was a very confident individual, but sometimes his nerves and self-doubts got the better of him. It was mostly when he was tired or had a tough day, but sometimes his feelings and emotions got the better of him.

I lent up, pressing a tender kiss to his lips once again. He automatically relaxed and kissed me back, smiling into the kiss.

“Don’t doubt I love you or that I feel safe around you. Trust me, if I knew I was in danger I wouldn’t be here.”

“I love you, Darlin’.” He whispered.

“I love you to Benny.” I replied, grinning. “I love you to.”
